Article marketing isn’t just about writing articles and having them published. In the end, your main goal is to be able to monetize them, either directly or indirectly. So how can you earn something from your articles? Here’s how:

1. You can sell affiliate products.

One of the obvious ways to monetize your articles is by selling popular affiliate products. In this case, you can write your articles in such a way that they showcase the product’s features and benefits, enticing your reader to click through to your affiliate link. Typically, this money-making model makes use of the resource box – an addition to articles posted on popular article directories that allows you to add information about yourself and a link to your website.

2. You can earn Adsense revenue.

It’s actually possible to earn money through Google Adsense without even setting up your own website. There are a number of article directories and article submission websites that will not only publish your articles, but will also help you earn money through the ads that are displayed together with your articles. On the other hand, why not set up your own blog where you can post your articles as you write them? This way, you’ll earn money directly through ads on your site, instead of sharing the revenue from another person’s site.

3. You can compile them all together and sell them as an ebook.

Rather than deleting your old articles or putting them into an archive, you can compile all of them and create your own ebook. There are three benefits to doing this. First, you can earn money by selling the e-book itself. In addition, you can sell space inside your e-book to advertisers, or clued links to relevant affiliate products. Finally, you can use the ebook to drive customers to your website, which you’ve monetized with additional advertisements or affiliate products.

4. You can build your own mailing list.

A mailing list can be a great way to boost your internet business. After all, if someone has gone out of their way to sign up for your mailing list, you can be pretty sure they’ll be interested in any future promotions you send out. The articles you write can do double-duty by populating your newsletter and driving traffic from a blog or article directory.

5. You can turn your articles into PLR content.

Basically, PLR stands for private label rights, which means that you sell the rights to your articles to someone else. As the author of the PLR content, you specify which rights you’re selling – for example, you can specify whether or not the new owner can make changes, claim the work as their own or turn around and sell it to others. This is especially effective if you have a large number of articles sitting around on your hard drive, and you want to earn something from them instead of sending them off to the digital recycle bin.

6. You can boost your traffic and search engine ranking.

Submitting your affiliate marketing articles to well-ranked sites – such as article directories – will also help you earn inbound links and increased traffic for your website. Over time, your sites position on the search engines will improve, making it easier for your customers to find your business in search engines and directories.

There are two things you need to remember when writing, especially if it’s for article marketing – speed and accuracy. If you want to be successful with article marketing, you’ll need to learn to write as many articles as possible in order to maximize your exposure. However, you still need to be as accurate as possible with your details and the technical aspects of your articles. Fortunately, there are methods you can use to maintain the two. Check below for some examples:

1. Write what you know – don’t make it harder for yourself! When you’re first learning to write faster, start with a subject you know well – something you’re comfortable with and have extensive knowledge and experience with. This way, you can minimize the time you spend researching references and information.

2. Create an outline for your articles. An outline goes a long way, especially if you’re trying to learn how to write fast. It can be very specific – something that’s just meant for the topic that you’re going to write about – or general – something you can use regardless of the subject you’re going to tackle. This way, you can refer to the outline in case you’re finding it difficult to come up with coherent paragraphs. Your outline will also help you develop a flow for the entire article.

3. Find a good time to write. As they say, timing is everything. Since writing requires you to be both creative and technical, you need to find a time where you’re at your best. It can be early in the morning, late in the afternoon, or even after midnight – it doesn’t really matter. The most important thing is you feel that you’re in your most productive state. Your mind is clear of “clutter,” and there’s no noise or people to distract you from what you’re doing.

4. Get ideas from published materials. If your creative juices aren’t flowing or you’re running out of ideas to write about, take a look through published materials. You can find plenty of options online or even in your newspapers, magazines, and journals. Eventually, you should hit on something that sparks your interest. Of course, I’m not recommending that you plagiarize existing materials. Plagiarism will absolutely ruin your reputation and could result in your sites being shut down. Instead, use other materials for inspiration before writing your own articles.

5. Practice your speed writing. Don’t just make this a one-time thing – make it your habit. You can only do that if you practice writing. Start by writing at least three articles every day. Take note of the amount of time you spend on each article and look for improvements in your manner of writing and your speed – you should see small changes every week.

Your Article Marketing Strategy: Get the Best Bang for Your Buck

In addition to developing well-written and compelling articles, your other major concern when it comes to article marketing is how to maximize their usage and obtain the best return on investment for your business. In other words, you need to have the best possible exposure for your articles in order to generate huge amounts of traffic that converts to regular customers and buyers.

If you’re not sure where to start, check out the following list:

1. Submit your articles to directories. There are thousands of article directories on the internet that don’t require a fee to post content. You’ll need to create your own account where you can monitor the performance of your articles based on the number of readers and clicks they’re receiving. Article directories will not only help increase traffic going to your website, but can also boost your rankings in the search engines, as they’re excellent sources of inbound links. And with countless web publishers around the world, there’s no limit to the number of people that can read your articles, click through to your website, and ultimately purchase or take advantage of your services.

2. Place your articles on blogs. Blogs are instant traffic hits these days for two reasons – first, because they’re very easy to set up and maintain and second, because they’re growing exponentially every day. In fact, there are already a number of business owners who are advertising their businesses in blogs for a very small fee. You can do that too. If you manage a business, you can create your own corporate blog and display all your articles there, or you can contact bloggers and ask them to post your copy on their blog sites.

3. Write in forums. More and more people are joining internet message boards and groups to get more information about the subjects they’re interested in. You can take advantage of this trend by creating your own account on a popular forum in your niche, and answering reader questions through your own written articles. Using the forums also makes it easy for you to gauge if you’re truly getting their attention through their replies and comments.

4. You can exchange them for another article. Call this reciprocal linking with a twist. Instead of asking another webmaster to link to your site, you can simply swap articles. Not only will this increase both of your website rankings, it can also mark the start of a professional long-term relationship between the two of you.

5. Submit your articles to local newspapers and magazines. If you haven’t done much offline promotion, you should definitely look into it. Magazines and newspapers are always looking entries or submissions. If you have articles on a topic they’re looking for, you may be able to publish your article with a link to your website, with no extra cost at your end. Publishing offline content is also great for bringing in tons of new traffic that hasn’t already been exposed to your business.

If you’ve put in the time to write good quality articles, don’t let them go to waste! There are lots of things you can do with your articles that will help bring loads of traffic to your site. All you need to know is how to use them to your advantage.

What You Need to Know About Article Marketing

Perhaps you’ve heard the term “article marketing”, but don’t fully understand it. What is article marketing? Who can benefit from it? And what do you need to remember when you’re actually doing article marketing?

What is article marketing?

Article marketing is a type of web promotion where you develop short pieces of content (typically 500-750 words) that pre-sell viewers on a product or direct potential customers to your website. Normally – when you’re talking about article marketing – these articles are submitted to various article directories and made available to web publishers around the world. These publishers can use your articles on their sites, provided they include a resource box that gives you and your site credit for the text.

What is the main purpose of article marketing?

A lot of internet marketers and business owners use article marketing to promote their businesses and increase traffic to their sites. Typically, internet visitors and potential customers will be enticed to click on the link to your website by the call to action in your resource box. When used effectively, your visitors will be pre-sold to purchase your products or use your services.

Breaking the whole term down further, article marketing gives you an opportunity to discuss the features and the benefits your customers can obtain from the products you’re offering outside of a direct sales situation. Moreover, your articles help to develop your authority in your chosen field, which – in turn – makes it easier for your customers to trust and rely on you.

Articles can also help boost your rankings in the search engines and increase the traffic to your website. If your articles are published on other well-ranking websites, you’ll gain inbound links that send even more traffic your way. As more and more people are exposed to your website, your traffic will increase tremendously.

What skills do you need to have to be successful in article marketing?

You don’t need to be a Pulitzer Prize winner or hold a Master’s degree in English to be able to come up with your own articles, although technical communications knowledge will absolutely help you get started. If you have a limited writing background, try focusing on the following two critical skills:

1. Research skills. It’s important to learn how to research effectively, since you can’t write everything based on your own opinions. To be taken seriously as an author, you need to back up your claims with facts and testimonials, which you can only obtain through extra research. The best places to look for information on your given topic are the internet, books and magazines in your public libraries, or even from your own surveys and reports on the subject.

2. Style and personality. It’s not enough to be able to write fluently, with correct sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Your articles also need to have their own personality – whether it’s witty, striking, informative, or appealing. After all, how can you expect to capture your audience’s attention with dry text and boring prose?

If you don’t feel comfortable with your own writing style, you can always find someone else to write your articles for you. There are several freelance writers and companies (like me – shameless plug!) who can provide you with article writing services. Needless to say, though, make sure that the articles are well-written and will help to enhance your professional image. By keeping this advice in mind, you’ll see huge returns from your investment in article marketing.
